Taste Of Digbeth

My Edits

This image is some graffiti from off a garage door that I found in the Digbeth area. I really liked this piece of graffiti. I used Photoshop to edit this picture I made the picture darker so I could bring out more of the lighter colours. I cropped the photo to take out unneeded bits like the wall and the floor. I sharpened the picture. Theres an element of shape as you can see the rectangles on the garage door.

I took this picture in the Digbeth area it was off a wall outside of the south and city college. I used Photoshop to darken the picture it made the colours have a shiny affect that I liked. There isn't much use of shapes as its just loads of rectangles.

This picture I took in the Digbeth area. It was on a long wall of graffiti. I didn't use photoshop on this picture because I like the picture the way it is. I like this photo because it is unusual and something random. If I was to make this picture better I could crop the photo down an use photoshop to see how I could change the photo round to make it look better.

This picture I took in the south and city college I like this picture because I like how you can see the different levels of the staircase. I used photoshop to darken this photo which made the banister have a shiny affect on them. I like the shapes on this picture the squares and rectangles. I cropped the picture down a bit. From looking at my secondary source I used it as inspiration and wanted to capture a picture like it which I did. If I was to take this picture again I would try taking the picture from different angles or from the bottom of the staircase like on my secondary source.

I took this picture in the Digbeth area at the custard factory. This piece of graffiti caught my eye because I liked the use of colours and shapes. I used photoshop to bring out more of the lighter colours so darkened the picture so the focal point would be her face. I like the background because some of the circles look further out because they are small. I like how the graffiti was made up out of loads of different sized circles.

I took this picture in the Digbeth area it is of squashed cars that are in rectangles. The background is overexposed as that's where the light was hitting. The focal point of my picture would be the crushed cars. I like this picture because the crushed car wall with all the cars have a similar colour to them which gives the picture an old looking theme. If I was to take this picture again I would make sure I got the correct exposure and try changing the lighting around in the background.

I took this picture from a window in the south and city college. I like this photo because it shows the different textures as the paint on it has chipped giving it a rough look. It looks like the bars have been there for a while as they look old and rusted. I used small depth of field as I wanted the focal point on the bars so the back is all blurred out. I wanted to focus more on the bars so you can see the different elements.  My secondary source and my primary are very similar as there both metal bars that have rusted and have a pattern on them.

I took this picture in the Digbeth area its of a wall that is painted loads of colours. I Liked this picture because some of the paint has chipped off so it gives the wall a rough texture. You can tell the paint has chipped because you can see the paint peeling off the wall. From looking at my secondary source I wanted to take a similar picture of  a rough looking wall. If I was to take this picture again I would take more closer pictures and at an angle so you can see more of the textures.

Looking at the work of other has helped me because it has given me some inspiration and ideas of what to take pictures off and how they have taken there pictures at different angles and at different heights.

Taste Of Digbeth

light, shape, texture, tone, pattern

This picture is my secondary source with elements of pattern, texture, light. You can see the light is pointing downwards as there is a shadow below the bars. The texture looks like the bars have rusted and you can see the different colours and layers of the bar. Theres a pattern on the bars.

This picture Is my secondary source that shows the elements of texture and light. The texture looks rough as the wallpaper or paint on the wall has chunks of parts missing from where it has chipped. The colour is a green and underneath the green is a white wall. It look like black mould is forming underneath the green wallpaper. The right side of the picture looks lighter than the right side of the picture. The right side of the picture looks lighter than the left side.

This picture Is my secondary source and is a staircase the picture has been taken from the bottom of the staircase this picture shows the elements of shape, light and tone. The shape is a circular shape it starts as a big circle and ends up going smaller as the staircase goes further up. The light changes as the bottom half of the picture it looks like theres a lights on as it starts to get darker surrounding the light.

Brassai

Brassai

Brassai (pseudonym of Gyula Halasz; 9 September 1899 – 8 July 1984) was a Hungarian photographer, sculptor, writer, and filmmaker who rose to international fame in France in the 20th century. He was one of the numerous Hungarian artists who flourished in Paris beginning between the World Wars. In the early 21st century, the discovery of more than 200 letters and hundreds of drawings and other items from the period 1940–1984 has provided scholars with material for understanding his later life and career.

This picture is of a bridge across a lake. You can see the lights on the bridge and the bridge reflecting onto the lake as its nigh time. There is a sidewalk on the lower left side of the picture that is blacked out you can see a tree branch coming through from the side of the picture. It looks foggy towards the back of the picture. The focal point of this picture is the couple walking down the path holding a torch. I think this picture was taken in the 1970's.
In my opinion the picture has a creepy feel to it. It looks like the couple are trying to find something or someone.

This picture is of a couple walking down a road on what looks like a foggy night. One of the people are holding a light. There is a car that looks like it is parked in the middle of the road and on some of the path and left there. There are houses on the left side of the photo and to the back of the photo there's loads of light where as the front of the photo is dark. The picture is black and white. The focal point of this picture would be the bridge as the lights catch your eye. This photo looks like it was taken in 1980's.

In my opinion I like the reflection of the bridge and the lights on the bridge on the water.

This picture is of an old man who is holding a long stick it looks like he is changing a street light at night. You can see more street lights in the background and buildings but the buildings are all blacked out you cant make out if there houses or not. The focal point of the picture would be the man changing the light at the front of the photo. The picture looks like it was taken ages ago maybe in the 1940's.

In my opinion I like the photo I like the lights going down the street and all in the background.
